Vancouver Sun article: Swordplay, with a point.

We're in the lifestyle section of the Vancouver Sun today. Pretty good
article featuring Kaja front and centre. I think it speaks pretty
highly of us a nice nod to our museum, the historical nature of the
art and the physical benefits and demands.

I always read these articles worried about various misnomers that
could be spread about what it means to practice Western Martial Arts.
This is the second article that I can think of on us that gives the
impression that we use sharps and just stick rubber blunts on the end
of them. The other thing I thought was funny was a tailored quote of
me describing the 'diversity' of students who attend: "from history
students to history professors". (Yup thats everyone! :))

I enjoyed the piece and it's a pleasure to be covered in the Sun. Kaja
spoke well for us; thanks Kaja! I hope that you'll still talk to us
now that you're a media sensation. Thanks also to Len, Margaret, and
Emily who I believe were interviewed but didn't make the final story.

All in all it's a good article even if some might think we're simply
the UBC History department's home away from home. Besides, maybe
that's true.

I noticed the same things, especially the bit about the wide variety of backgrounds our students come from.

Overall it was a good article: they didn't say that we train to slay dragons.
